A Memorial Service is planned for a legendary Nebraska broadcaster, who spent 67 years involved with KNEB radio in Scottsbluff.
Les Proctor began his career with KNEB in November of 1947, as construction was underway for what would become KNEB-AM. He remained with the station his entire career, becoming part owner of the station for 10 years between 1969 and 1979.
On Christmas Day in 1960, Proctor was instrumental in putting the 2nd FM radio station in Nebraska on the air as KNEB-FM took to the airwaves.
Proctor’s intelligence and expertise were vital in bringing AM and FM radio to the area, and maintaining the quality and dependability of KNEB through all of it’s year’s of operation.
A Memorial Service will be held on October 25th at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Scottsbluff, where Proctor was a long-time active member, hosting a Sunday morning church broadcast for many years.
Proctor passed away peacefully Friday morning at Heritage Estates in Gering.
