Teenagers escape injury after car slides into ditch

Two Gering teenagers escaped injury Wednesday when one of them lost control of the vehicle they were riding in and put it in a ditch with 10 inches of water.

Scottsbluff Police officer Matt Herbel says the car driven by 17 year old Austin Ostergaard of Gering was northbound on Five Rocks Road when he lost control of the vehicle as he was trying to make a right turn onto Stable Club Road. Herbel says the vehicle slid in the icy conditions into the north ditch just east of the intersection.

17 year old Dreson Beguin of Gering was a passenger in the car, which is owned by James Oliver.

The accident happened around 3:36 p.m.
