Consulants say "Legacy of the Plains" should be major tourism destination

The consultants with a Colorado firm that is putting together a vision for the planned "Legacy of the Plains" Museum say they believe it can be a regional attraction that will provide significant tourism dollars to the North Platte Valley.

Biff Baird and Larry Borowski with Exhibit Design Associates of Estes Park have been examining the collections at the North Platte Valley and Farm and Ranch Museums this week. The men told KNEB News they were enthralled with the number and variety of items and the energy of volunteers to tell the history of the area through inter-active and rotating displays.

Borowski says he will tell members of the two museums this eveningthat the combined facility should be the region's number one attraction.

Baird says their goal is to have conceptual drawings for the entire 36,000 square foot space that will provide "the roadmap" for the completed museum and be the vision that helps with capital fundraising efforts. Baird says by working with the Scotts Bluff National Monument on connected hiking and biking trials, the two attractions can be a stunning recreational stop for visitors.
