The long awaited re-opening of a downtown Alliance business took place at 9 o'clock this morning (Monday).

Thiele Pharmacy and Gifts has been closed since a deadly standoff between a gunman and law enforcement on June 12 Â… and Monday, nearly four months later, the business began serving the community under the new name: Thiele Gifts and More.

The pharmacy portion of the business will remain in the building north of Box Butte General Hospital until early December.

Thiele's co-owner Ellen Lierk says she and her husband Charles and the Thiele employees are excited about serving customers from their familiar downtown location.

And she says she and Charles simply want people to come into the store so the Lierks can say thank you.

The other entity that was effected by the standoff, Nebraska Workforce Development, moved back into its facility next door to Thiele's on Sept. 19, after being housed at the Alliance Learning Center.
