Overman applauds professionalism in inter-agency pursuit

Scotts Bluff County Sheriff Mark Overman says he was pleased there were no injuries, no shots were fired and no damage to vehicles during a high speed pursuit Saturday afternoon that involved Wyoming and Nebraska law enforcement agencies. The two Texas fugitives, who were armed and had an assault rifle in their vehicle, were eventually apprehended north of Henry.

Overman Monday applauded all the officers for the cooperation between agencies and their professionalism. Overman told KNEB News the possibility of injuries to the public, officers and suspects go "way, way,up" in such pursuits. But he says when they are chasing people who are armed and dangerous, there is "no way we are not going to pursue people like that."

Overman says officers with local agencies and the two State Patrols still have issues communicating with each other, but the two communication centers were able to keep a line open, and the agencies were able to overcome the problems.
