Kimball Lincoln Day showing off vintage cars
Kimball residents Tuesday are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Lincoln Highway, commonly referred to in Nebraska as Highway 30.
The road was the first coast to coast highway built in America and a 25 car touring group will be stopping in Kimball this evening on their way to the big 100th anniversary celebration of the highway later this summer in Lake Tahoe, California which will feature 500 vintage cars. The touring group cars are Fords, Mercurys and Lincolns
of 1932 to 1953 vintage.
Kimball County Tourism Director Jo Caskey says a Mini Show and Shine will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Kimball Event Center where the Early Ford V8 Club of America will join vintage cars from the Kimball area for public viewing. Mayor James Schnell will also proclaim the day Lincoln Highway Day in Kimball.
The Stahla-Ford Band will provide music and the Kimball Rotary Club will provide a burger feed for $3 per person and a beer garden will also be available. The touring club will be staying at the Days Inn in Kimball this evening before moving on.
