CSC golf team opens season today

CHADRON – The Chadron State College women's golf team will open its season this weekend by playing in the invitational tournament hosted by Colorado State University-Pueblo at the Desert Hawk Course.

All the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams will be involved. Eighteen holes will be played both Saturday and Sunday.

Chadron State has a young team made up of three sophomores and two freshman.

Two of the sophomores, Emma Harris of Wahoo and Schuyler Wetzel of Hot Springs, S.D., were regulars for the Eagles last year while Elysha Stahla of Moorcroft, Wyo., also was a team member. The freshmen are Danielle Brennan of Alliance and Nicole Thramer of Bartlett.

Coach Terri Connealy said Thramer joined the team this past week. She is a graduate of Wheeler Central High School, where she participated in volleyball, basketball and track and field, but she has not previously played competitive golf.

"She's really athletic and we're happy to have her on the team," Connealy said. "Of course, she's got a lot to learn, but I'm sure she'll really work at it."
