Heineman pleased with his relationship with lawmakers
Governor Dave Heineman says he is generally pleased with his relationship with the legislature during his time as governor.
Heineman told KNEB News the important bills have generally been addressed each session and necessary legislation passed, even when they had to find solutions after working through disagreements. But Heineman said they always did it in a respectful fashion and noted it takes a team to put the state in one of the more enviable financial positions of any state in the country.
Heineman praised lawmakers for passing in the 2014 session $421 million in tax relief over five years, developing a long-term prison strategy and approving a water sustainability and management plan.
