Court documents say robbery suspect may have been armed
Court documents indicate surveillance video of the robbery of the Valley Bank branch at Broadway and the Beltline Highway in Scottsbluff appears to show suspect Michael Scott was armed with a knife.
While the video shows Scott may have had a knife in his left hand, Captain Brian Wasson says the teller told Police she never saw the weapon and never felt like she was being threatened with a weapon as Scott forcibly took money from the cash drawer. The court document written by investigator Shawn West says Scott grabbed the teller's wrist as she tried to close the drawer and then removed the money before fleeing.
The 42-year-old Scott was arrested Thursday evening at a mobile home in Scottsbluff.
Scott is being held in the Scotts Bluff County Jail on $750,000 bond on one count of robbery and possession of a controlled substance (Methamphetamine). Scott was in possession of U.S. Currency and a small quantity of suspected methamphetamine when taken into custody.
Scott is alo charged with theft by deception for theft and fraud cases involving local bank ATM cards and false deposits that resulted in losses of over $8,000. Wasson says a another man involved in the fraud and a woman who drove the two men to the banks and who resided at the mobile home where Scott was arrested may also face charges.
