SHS graduate "living the dream" in the Big Apple

A 2011 Scottsbluff High graduate who moved to New York City right out of high school is "living the dream" as he stars in a hit off-Broadway production.

Sam Harvey is in "Bayside the Musical" and plays the lead character Zack Morris in the musical comedy parody of the 1990's hit TV show "Saved By The Bell". The production was only supposed to run from September through November, but it has been extended several times due to its popularity and it is now running through March.

Harvey says he died his hair blonde for the role, which he loves performing. He says the production is like "Book of Mormon meets Saved By The Bell."

Harvey, the son of Steve and Sheryl Harvey, says he loves New York City and has been working ever since he got out of performing school in February. Harvey said he even had a couple offers to do regional productions at the same time he got the Zack Morris role, but was advised to take the New York City production due to the added exposure in the big city.

The production is located at Theatre 80 in East Village, an historic theater where Harvey says Frank Sinatra got his start and Billy Crystal was an usher.
