Water restrictions becoming more likely
As dry conditions persist in the valley, it's becoming more likely that local residents can expect possible water restrictions this summer. And while Gering is looking at voluntary restrictions as a starting point, Scottsbluff City Manager Rick Kuckkahn says residents might expect, at the very least, some odd-even day restrictions.
He says city residents don't consumer nearly the water that irrigation concerns use, but he says they want to do whatever they can to assist agriculture in what is likely to be a difficult year.
Kuckkahn says "I don't want to get in the middle of summer where we're seeing some real shortages and then get into the restrictions. We want to be pro-active and get ahead of it."
Kuckkahn says Scottsbluff remains in close consulation with their partners, including the City of Gering and water related agencies in the valley.
