Scottsbluff man convicted of theft
A Scottsbluff man who was only out of jail six hours before being arrested again was convicted by a Scotts Bluff County District court jury of theft under $1,500, a felony that could get him up to five years in prison.
36 year old Timothy Trujillo is accused of taking an ATV from a residence on Lake Minatare Road February 9th, shortly after serving his jail time. Scotts Bluff county Attorney Doug Warner says the owner of the vehicle observed Trujillo driving the vehicle on Lake Minatare Road, and after verifying the ATV was missing, went back and confronted Trujillo. The owner got the vehicle back and also saw Trujillo get into a vehicle as a passenger. The vehicle was stopped later by authorities on Sugar Factory Road, and after the ATV owner identified Trujillo as the suspect he was arrested for theft.
Trujillo will be sentenced by Judge Randy Lippstreu June 20th at 3 p.m.
