Minatare Board approves Comm Center agreement
The Minatare village board Tuesday night voted unanimously to accept a proposed Scotts Bluff County Communications Center Interlocal agreement the board had balked at approving for several months.
Minatare's yes vote followed a 5-2 vote by the Gering city council Monday night to approve the agreement. The two boards were the last in the county to accept the proposal.
A letter drafted by Scotts Blufff County's legal representative Phil Kelly asked the Gering council and the Minatare Village Board to place the issue on their agendas this week and notify the county of their intent by May 1st. Kelly says it followed unsuccessful negotiations to come to an agreement with the two communities.
Minatare, Gering and the county began the negotiations last December after the two communities filed suit to prevent the county from terminating their emergency dispatch service because of disagreements over funding new equipment at the county facility.
