Cougars drop second round game

The stay for the Western Nebraska Cougar women's basketball team at the National Junior College Tournament lasted two games. After a thrilling come-from-behind, 63-60, win Monday against State Fair Community College of Missouri the Cougars had no such comeback in store Tuesday afternoon.

The Cougars fell to two-time defending national champion Trinity Valley of Texas, 77-48. The top seeded Cardinals shot 50-percent from the field, compared to the Cougars' 23-percent, to move to 33-1 on the season. The Cougars end up at 31-5.

Dave Harnish's crew struggled against Trinity Valley pressure, committing 21 turnovers that the Cardinals turned into 26 points.

Up next for Trinity Valley is a quarterfinal match-up against either South Georgia Tech or Northwest Florida
