The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a hilarious look at the experience of six adolescents vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime. The Theatre West production opens Wednesday evening in the WNCC Little Theater.

Cast member Marikita Payne tells KNEB News the audience will love the characters, who learn that winning isn't everything and losing doesn't necessarily make you a loser. She says the whole script is written very well. Lots of jokes and alot of touching moments. Payne says everyone has their own character songs, so you get to know them and fall in love with them throughout the show.

Ty Hebbert plays two parts in the production. He tells KNEB News that Mitch Mahoney is just one of the quirky yet charming characters the audience will enjoy. Hebbert says Mitch is on parole and assigned community service at the spelling bee as a "comfort counselor." Hebbert also plays the character of Olive's father, Dan Schwartz in the musical comedy.

For tickets, the Box Office is located in the WNCC Theatre Lobby. Or call 308-635-6193 for tickets.
