Flu numbers up in 2013
Statistics provided by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services show a quicker outbreak in the percentage of positive influenza tests conducted by Nebraska Laboratories.
Chief Medical Officer Dr. Joann Schaefer says that's just the nature of the flu, which she says is very unpredictable. Schaefer says a flu vaccine has not been as effective with the elderly as they would like.
Dr. Schaefer says there are 812 confirmed flu cases so far this year. There were 104 at this time last year. Schaefer also says it's not too late to get vaccinated.
