One of the winners from the Miss Western Nebraska/Miss Gering pageant that took place Saturday evening at Gering High School had her title changed.

Tosha Skinner was crowned as Miss Oregon Trail at Saturday night's pageant. Organizers were unaware that "Miss Oregon Trail Scholarship Pageant" is a trademarked title with the Nebraska Secretary of State, despite the fact the title is not listed with the Miss Nebraska pageant system. They only learned of it after the trademarked title owner made them aware that they could not use it. Monday, the name of Skinner's title was changed to "Miss Sugar Valley."

Other winners included Miss Western Nebraska Morgan Yost, Miss Gering Alexis Smith, Miss Western Nebraska Outstanding Teen Grace Heggem, and Miss Gering Outstanding Teen Caylen Calderon.

Miss Western Nebraska received a full year's waived tuition to Chadron State College. Miss Gering won a $1,000 scholarship waiver to WNCC. All three winners received a $200 cash scholarship provided by Platte Valley Companies.

A total of 21 girls competed with 8 in the Teen Division and 13 in the Miss Division.

The pageant is a Miss America Organization sanctioned pageant and a title qualifies for a chance to compete for Miss Nebraska and Miss Nebraska's Outstanding Teen in North Platte in June.
