Gering suffers two more losses at Rapid City
After being stifled on the first day of the Rapid City Legion Post 320 Tournament Friday the Gering Platte Valley Companies bats came to life Saturday, but it wasn't enough to register a win.
In the opener Gering produced an eight run third inning to go up 8-1 against Miles City, Montana, but Miles City came back with a six run bottom of the third to pull to within one, 8-7. Then a three run fourth and a five run fifth lifted them to a 17-9 win over PVC.
Dillon DeMott started the game for Gering. Gage Winkler suffered the loss in relief.
Gering had 10 hits in the contest, three by Caleb Geary and two each by Elijah Timblin and Justin Brester. Timblin added two rbi and Brester one.
Timblin continued his hot hitting in game two with two safeties, a run scored and an rbi, however Gering could not hold on to a 4-2 lead while dropping a 12-4 decision to host Post 320.
Geary suffered the loss for PVC, which dropped to 9-20 on the year. They will host Sidney Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. That will be our Legion Game of the Week. We will go in The Zone at 6:45 p.m. on KNEB-AM and kneb.com.
