Cougars rally for win in game one

The Western Nebraska Community College women's basketball team rallied from a large second half deficit to win the opening game of the National Junior College Basketball Tournament in Salina, KS Monday morning.

The 17th seeded Cougars trailed 16th seeded State Fair Community College of Missouri 24-19 at halftime, and it looked like The Cougars weren't ready to challenge in the second half. They fell behind by 17 before rallying for a 63-60 win.

The Cougars move to 31-4 on the season with their second win of the campaign against State Fair. They also topped State Fair, 67-61, in a late November game in Scottsbluff.

Up next for Dave Harnish's crew is a showdown with top seeded Trinity Valley of Texas. They are the nation's number one rated team and will enter the 2 p.m.(CT) game Tuesday with a record of 32-1. They received a first round bye in the 24-team field.
