Monument Prevention Coalition in need of more funding

Funding has become an issue once again for the Monument Prevention Coalition so Executive Director Lanette Richards will move from full-time to part-time beginning the first of the year to save money.

Richards says the Coalition's Executive Board made the decision Tuesday when they looked at $20,000 in funding commitments for a $50,000 budget this fiscal year. Richards told KNEB News they have other commitments coming in but the organization has to be real stringent right now on the funds they do have. She hopes the move to part-time is only temporary.

The local coalition works to curb underage drinking and substance abuse, including teens working with local law enforcement and the Nebraska State patrol on periodic compliance checks at local businesses.

To make a donation you may contact Richards at 631-7291, send a check to the Coalition address at 1601 East 27th Street in Scottsbluff or make your donation through the Oregon Trail Community Foundation at 1105 Railway Street in Scottsbluff. If you donate to the the OTCF, make sure you identify where you want the money to go.
