No injuries in train/car accident

A man escaped serious injury this (Tuesday) morning when a Burlington Northern-Santa Fe train hit his car at the County Road 19 rail crossing just west of Scottsbluff.

49 Year Old Claude Shelby was traveling north on County Road 19 in a 1993 Ford Explorer when he swerved to miss a deer and his vehicle became high centered on the tracks on the west side of the County Road 19 railroad crossing.

The eastbound coal train hit the vehicle but Shelby was able to exit the SUV before it was hit.

He was cited for no insurance.
