Bayard man gets prison for child enticement

Saying he was a "danger to children if not incarcerated," Scotts Bluff County District Judge Randy Lippstreu sentenced a 24 year old Bayard man to 20 to 25 years in prison for his conviction on a charge of child enticement by electronic device.

Matt Crable, a registered sex offender who had spent time in prison previously for having consensual sex with a 15-year old girl in rural Scotts Bluff County, was arrested by the Nebraska State Patrol in September of last year. The arrest came just six months after his release from prison.

The investigation started when a Morrill County Sheriff's deputy reported an 11 year old girl had been receiving text messages from an unknown man. The number was traced to Crable and A State Patrol Investigator posed as a 13 year old girl and began communicating with Crable.

Court records say transmitted lewd, lascivious and obscene language to the investigator. After asking the girl to meet him for sex, Crable was arrested and taken into custody at the arranged meeting location.

Crable admitted he had "not used good judgment" prior to sentencing.
