Two injury accidents investigated
Scottsbluff Police and Fire units responded to a reported injury accident in the Western Travel Terminal parking lot Thursday afternoon around 3:30 p.m. after receiving a report of a vehicle striking a child.
Scottsbluff Police Captain Brian Wasson says the investigation identified that an 11-year old male who was southbound on Avenue I while riding a bicycle was struck by a pickup as he crossed a driveway to the business.
The injuries to the child were minor and he was transported to Regional West Medical Center by Valley Ambulance. The driver of the pickup, 30 year old Christopher Davis of Lyman was not cited.
Then this morning at approximately 7:00 a.m., Wasson says Scottsbluff Police and Fire responded to a reported injury accident at the South Beltline Highway and Broadway intersection.
Wasson says this investigation determined that a southbound vehicle driven by 62-year-old Delbert Johnson of Scottsbluff failed to stop for a red traffic signal before entering the intersection, where an eastbound motorcycle driven by 52-year-old Rick Gilbert of Mitchell collided with the Johnson . Gilbert was transported to Regional West Medical Center by Valley Ambulance and was believed to have minor injuries. Johnson was cited for a stop-light violation.
