McCook's Brooklyn Trew was the first Lady Bison player to cut down a piece of the net

For the second straight year the McCook girls basketball team is headed to the state tournament in Lincoln. The top seeded Lady Bison wrapped up the bid with a District B6 championship game win over Gering Friday night at Cougar Palace in Scottsbluff.

Gering's Alexa Anderson scored the first points of the game, and the contest was tied early at 4-to-4, but McCook soon took control after that and ran away to a 63-to-28 win over the Bulldogs.

The 21-4 Lady Bison got eight first quarter points from Brooklyn Trew and six more from Rachel Goltl to pull out to an 18-to-6 lead after one quarter. They moved the margin to 35-to-10 at halftime.

Gering was led in scoring by Allie Vacha with seven points, all coming in the fourth quarter. Seniors Dakota Gellner and Alexa Anderson added 6 apiece for the 12-12 Bulldogs.

Gellner was named the KNEB Taco John's Player-of-the Game.
