Klein qualifies first
Scottsbluff High School's Matt Klein has qualified for the finals of the 110 hurdles at the Nebraska State Track and Field Championships at Omaha Burke Stadium.
He had the fastest time in the prelims today in moving to Saturday's finals. His time placed him just ahead of Alliance's Trevor Kamerzell, who qualified second. Daniel Rohrer of Scottsbluff failed to qualify.
The Bearcats' Luke Worden qualified eighth in the 100. Two Minatare athletes were not as fortunate. Andres Mendoza was DQ'd for a false start and Mario Sanchez, despite finishing second in his heat, did not qualify. Either did Devon Sullivan of Garden County.
Senior Zach Bibb of Gering got some points for the Bulldogs finishing fifth in the high jump. He cleared 6-2. So did Nicholas Conger of Sidney. he settled for a seventh place tie.
SteaVen Becker of Scottsbluff did not place in the girls discus.
