Bayard man critical after accident
A 72 year old elderly Bayard man is in critical condition at Regional West Medical Center after a two vehicle collision at the intersection of two county roads Monday evening three miles north of McGrew. John Ragland was taken to the hospital by Air Link after the crash around 6 p.m. Lt. Rick Spencer with the Scotts Bluff County Sheriff's office said Ragland appeared to have a broken neck.
Spencer said the accident happened when Ragland's eastbound car on County Road R ran a stop sign at the intersection of County Road 34. Spencer said Ragland's car collided with a southbound vehicle driven by 62 year old Carol Andrew of rural Minatare.
The force of the collision drove Ragland's car down into a six foot ditch. Andrew's vehicle also went into a ditch. Spencer said Andrew, who went to the hospital for treatment of cuts, was able to walk to a nearby home and call for help.
