Scotts Bluff County considering added hours for Handy Bus

Responding to requests by the public for enhanced service, the local Handy Bus program is considering adding extra hours.

The Handy Bus Director Carol Prince told the Scotts Bluff County Commissioners the public has been asking her to extend service until seven in the evening Monday through Friday and nine to three on Saturday.

The extended will cost an estimated $50,000 annually between state, federal and local funding. Prince said she was pleased the commissioners appeared willing to invest in the program.

Prince says a public hearing will need to be scheduled before anything is done and the earliest even a trial run can be accomplished is early next year.
