Chadron High given high ranking by national magazine
US News and World Report ranks Chadron High School #2 in Nebraska in preparing students for college, trailing only Elkhorn High in Omaha.
The magazine bases its rankings on four criteria: student/teacher ratio, college readiness, math proficiency and reading proficiency.
Chadron's 12-to-1 teacher/student ratio is near the state average while its 3.16 for college readiness is above the state average.
Chadron High was near the top in the other two categories. Its 3.2 in math proficiency was topped only by Elkhorn's 3.3 and Chadron's 3.4 in reading proficiency was also one of the top scores in the State.
Chadron High Principal Jerry Mack and Superintendent Dr Caroline Winchester say they were surprised, but pleased with the ranking...crediting students, teachers, parents, and the community for the honor.
