OWH poll says Kerrey within 3 points of Fischer
A new Omaha World-Herald poll shows Bob Kerrey has now climbed to within three points of Deb Fischer. The Poll in Sunday's paper said Fischer has 48 percent support, and Kerrey has 45%, with a margin of error of 3.5%, making the race now a dead heat.
However, the Fischer campaign released an internal poll Saturday that shows she has a much wider lead. Their poll has her with a 16-point lead over Kerrey. That poll by Public Opinion Strategies was a live telephone survey of 600 likely voters on both land lines and cell phones from Oct. 23-25, with has a margin of error of 4 percent.
Kerrey Campaign Manager Paul Johnson said the World-Herald poll shows Nebraska voters are paying more attention and learning more about the candidates.
"Nebraskans are gravitating quickly to Senator Kerrey as they learn more about his plans to work across party lines to address our nation's significant issues," Johnson said on the campaign website.
But Fischer Campaign Manager Aaron Trost said in a press release yesterday, "Our polling shows that Nebraskans are responding positively to Senator Fischer's issues-focused campaign, and they're soundly rejecting Bob Kerrey's desperate mudslinging and personal attacks."
