CSC splits matches on final day in Kearney

KEARNEY, Neb. – The Chadron State College volleyball team posted a .230 hitting percentage en route to its four-set victory over William Jewell (25-19, 22-25, 25-21, 26-24) Saturday during the final day of the New Victorian Inn & Suites/Runza Classic hosted by the University of Nebraska-Kearney.

In the day's opening match, Chadron State suffered a 26-28, 25-18, 25-16, 25-11 loss to South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.

Against William Jewell (1-3), Barbie DeCent and Erika Roybal each had double doubles in kills and digs to lead the way for CSC. DeCent had 11 kills and 14 digs, while Roybal added 12 kills and 10 digs.

Hanna Flaming paced the offense with a match-high 13 kills and Justine Ackie handed out 41 set assists and chipped in six kills.

Flaming and DeCent each hit over .300 and Jessica Jester, who had nine kills, hit .208.

Also for CSC, Alia Brennan had four kills and three blocks and Alyssa Bauer had a match-high 20 digs.

The Eagles (2-2) will play at a tournament hosted by Colorado State University-Pueblo next weekend. They'll play William Jewell, Wayne State, Southwest Baptist and Lindenwood.
