Lied Scottsbluff Library kicks off National Library Week
Lied Scottsbluff Public Library invites the community to stop by and help celebrate National Library Week, beginning Monday, April 14 through Friday, April 18. This year's theme is "Books Are Just the Beginning" and to celebrate the library is kicking off a great new children's program and offering other celebratory promotions throughout the week.
This evening (Monday) at 6:00 pm, the library will launch the much-anticipated LEGO Club, the latest addition to the library's program offerings. LEGO Club is for children ages 4-11 who attend with an adult and build LEGO creations for an hour each month. "Our goal is to foster an environment where children can get creative and grow," said Children's Librarian Deb Carlson. "With LEGO Club, children can connect and collaborate. It's a great opportunity." Preregistration is NOT required, nor are attendees charged for admittance, however, children must be accompanied by an adult. The library is currently accepting donations of additional new or gently used LEGOs for the club but is happy to accept monetary donations.
Also during National Library Week, the library will be holding drawings for both a children's gift basket and an adult gift basket as a thank you to our patrons. The children's basket is an assortment of books, stuffed animals, a LEGO set and other goodies. The adult basket features books like "Orange is the New Black" and "Divergent," as well as the first three seasons of "Game of Thrones" and "Catching Fire" on DVD. Adults and children visiting the library during National Library Week will receive one entry per day into the basket giveaway. Additional entries can be earned. To find out how, visit the Lied Scottsbluff Public Library Facebook page. The winner for each drawing will be announced Monday, April 21.
As a thank you for all the support the library receives from the community, they will be offering FINE FREE DAYS throughout National Library Week. Any patron visiting the library April 14-April 18 can ask to have their fines forgiven. Please note that fees accumulated for damaged or lost materials or any collection related fees are not eligible for forgiveness.
