Construction on Crawford plant begins
Baker & Associates say construction has begun on the $2.5 million wastewater treatment plant project for the City of Crawford.
The official groundbreaking took place on May 22, 2013. The project is designed to provide significant improvements to the city's
wastewater treatment as required by the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality.
The improvements include construction of an activated sludge treatment plant, new lift station, wastewater screen, office & storage building, and an ultra-violet disinfection system. It also includes a constructed wetlands sludge drying bed with natural native reeds to help digest nutrients and dewater the biosolids removed as part of the treatment process.
The general contractor is Hydro Construction of Fort Collins, Colorado. Hydro Construction specializes in the construction of water and wastewater treatment facilities. Construction is expected to be completed by Spring of 2014.
