Scottsbluff hires Assistant City Manager
A new Assistant City Manager should be on the job in Scottsbluff by mid-March. Nathan Johnson of Dublin, Ohio has been hired to assume the newly created position after an exhaustive search.
City Manager Rick Kuckkahn told KNEB there were actually six qualified candidates for the position. Kuckkahn says the biggest difference between Johsnon and the other candidates is that his career track and focus has been and continues to be on being a city managemer. He said that's the big thing that tipped the scales for him and he thinks the rest of the panel felt the same way. However, he said any of the others could probably have done the job as well.
Johnson will be in Scottsbluff Monday looking for housing, and Kuckkahn hopes to have him on the job by mid-month. He will start off by working on oversight of the upgrade of information technology software for the city, and also working on capital improvement projects.
Kuckkahn also said Johnson will work closely with him on a day to day basis, learning the nuts and bolts of his job so the assistant can eventually take over as City Manager.
