Deuel County traffic stops produce drug arrests
Two traffic stops for speeding in Deuel County this week by the Nebraska State Patrol resulted in the arrests of the drivers on drug charges after the trooper searched both vehicles when he smelled marijuana as he approached the cars.
The first stop Tuesday produced nearly five pounds of marijuana from the vehicle and the arrest of 29 year old Phillip Mays of Beatrice. The trooper found 4.8 pounds of marijuana in the truck of the car wrapped in plastic bags that were inside a black plastic trash bag.
Mays is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of more than one pound of marijuana.
The second stop occurred Thursday night. The search produced marijuana in a false shaving cream can, 2.5 ounces of hashish, 3.5 ounces of marijuana brownies, several bags of marijuana buds and two hydrocodone pills.
20 year old Andrew White, who had a Wyoming driver's license, is charged with possession of hydrocodone and possession of hashish.
