Miss Nebraska fundraiser a big success

A fundraiser for Miss Nebraska Jacee Pilkington attended by an estimated 300 people Saturday night was a rousing success. The event was hosted by Lisa and Troy Weborg at the newly purchased former Coors warehouse facility on the Scottsbluff-Gering highway.

140 silent auction items and close to 50 larger live auction items raised tens of thousands of dollars to help cover the cost for Pilkington to attend the Miss America pageant September 15th in Atlantic City.

Pilkington. who sang during the event, thanked those who attended, noting they came from not only Scottsbluff and Gering, but many communities in western Nebraska and eastern Wyoming. She also thanked her volunteers who worked on a committee to obtain the auction items and organize the event as well as the auctioneers, who included Lex Madden from Torrington and Mike Nuss and Steve Flower from the Twin Cities.
