Scottsbluff man who hid from officers in tree facing felony domestic assault
A Scottsbluff man who hid in a tree after Scottsbluff Police responded to a domestic dispute call has been charged with two felony counts of aggravated domestic assault.
39 year old Louis Mendoza was arrested late Monday night after he allegedly punched his girlfriend in the face, broke a TV and poured beer on her after she refused to get more alcohol.
Mendoza fled from the residence in the 1800 block of Avenue H when officers arrived and they eventually pulled him from inside the pine tree after he fled into a park near a church.
Mendoza had been cited September 15th for misdemeanor domestic assault but failed to appear for his court hearing. The prosecution upgraded that count to a felony and charged Mendoza with a felony from the arrest Monday due to the number of prior domestic assault incidents.
