Zephyrs keep rolling along

The WESTCO Zephyrs extended their win streak to 11 games Friday with a doubleheader sweep against D'Evelyn in Denver. WESTCO moved to 32-11 on the year with 12-1 and 8-1 wins.

In the five inning opener Eric Moreno knocked in three runs and Rogelio Gurrola went 2-3 at the plate in support of pitcher Leighton Freeze, who through a complete five-inning game four hitter.

In the nitecap the Zephyrs used a four run sixth inning to cruise past D'Evelyn 8-1. Moreno had another good game at the plate with a 2-2 performance. Tharyn Curtis scored two runs and knocked in two more to aid the cause.

The winning pitcher was Dylon Busskohl.

The Zephyrs stay in the Denver area today to close out their regular season with a doubleheader against Mullen. The Z's will return home to start postseason play, hosting the Area 7 Legion Tournament beginning June 19. They will be the top seed.
