Authorities looking for weapon in Sidney murder

Sidney authorities are asking the public for help in finding the gun used in what they believe was a drug-related murder early Saturday morning.

34-year old Jason Custer is charged with 2nd-degree murder and felony use of a weapon in the death of 36-year old Adam McCormick at a Sidney residence, and Cheyenne County Attorney Paul Schaub says law enforcement is looking for the black short rifle believed to be the murder weapon.

Sidney Police Chief Mike Brown says personnel from several agencies scoured a large concrete pile at Milestone Redi Mix in east Sidney Monday afternoon, but found nothing.

Schaub and Brown ask that anyone finding a short black rifle or knowing something about its whereabouts is asked to contact the Sidney police or Cheyenne County Sheriff's Office.
