Condom Nation Tour makes Scottsbluff stop
A mobile condom distribution team that distributed 5.5 million condoms throughout the U.S. last year, "Condom Nation", is on their second U.S. tour and Scottsbluff was final of four stops in Nebraska as they set up in the former FTC parking lot on 27th Street in Scottsbluff Friday afternoon.
The team is partnering with government and nongovernment organizations to distribute thousands of free condoms and provide free HIV testing at each event across the nation.
Program Manager Marco Benjamin says since leaving Los Angeles on March 10th, the team and their 18-wheel, 72-foot custom-wrapped big rig and matching HIV testing sprinter van have distributed over 1.5 million free condoms and tested more than 300 people for HIV.
Benjamin says the Condom Nation Tour is a public health program that is sponsored by the Aids Healthcare Foundation. He says they currently provide HIV specific care to 230,000 people all over the world. They have clinics in 28 countries and 13 states.
