Roadrunners race past CSC men

DENVER – Four Metro State players scored in double figures and the No. 3-ranked Roadrunners took advantage of a cold shooting night from Chadron State to earn an 82-50 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference victory Sunday in Denver.

Metro State, which shot 49 percent (29 for 59) from the field for the game, never trailed and led by as many 40 points while improving to 9-0 overall and 5-0 in the conference.

Brandon Jefferson led the Roadrunners with 16 points and Demetrius Miller added 14 more. Also for Metro, Mitch McCarron and DeShawn Phenix finished in double figures with 10 points apiece.

The Eagles (1-9, 1-5 RMAC) had a tough night shooting. They connected on just four of 17 field goal attempts in the first half and finished just under 29 percent for the game (13-45).

Josh Hatcher led the Eagles with 14 points and Grant Stone chipped in 13.

Also for Chadron State, Kyle Vinich finished with a game-high six rebounds and Kendrick Holliman scored 10 points for the second consecutive night.
