Scottsbluff Police establishing intern program with WNCC

The first intern program for students in the Western Nebraska Community College criminal justice program will be established soon.

Scottsbluff Police Chief Kevin Spencer says he plans to get the program started in the next few weeks. Spencer says he is working on an intern policy and a very structured program so students will get credits for the time served at the department.

Spencer encourages the other law enforcement agencies to also start intern programs with the college. Spencer says the Police department has a great relationship with WNCC, including allowing students to train in the Public Safety Building's updated Emergency Operations Center.

Spencer says an interactive board to be placed in the EOC in the next week will be a great improvement and he plans on looking into video conferencing equipment so other area agencies can tie into training being done locally.
