Bank robbery suspect convicted on drug count

A Scotts Bluff County District Court jury deliberated less than an hour this afternoon before finding a Scottsbluff man guilty of possession of methamphetamine. 42 year old Michael Scott was charged with the drug count after a small quantity of meth was found when he was taken into custody for allegedly robbing a Valley Bank location in Scottsbluff just before Thanksgiving of last year.

Sentencing on the methamphetamine conviction is scheduled for September 30th at 3 p.m.

Scott will face trial on the bank robbery charge this fall during the next jury term. Scott was sentenced in late May to 12 18 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to assaulting an inmate while at the Scotts Bluff County Jail. Scott also faced theft and fraud charges involving local bank ATM cards, but they were dismissed.
