Dehaan says Scottsbluff won't have bigger plant issues

Keith DeHaan addresses Scottsbluff Council

The General Manager of a company proposing a meatpacking plant in Scottsbluff maintains it will not create the same issues as the Tyson plant in Lexington.

Keith DeHaan of Future Food Energy LLC told KNEB News the proposed plant and the number of employees that will be hired for the western Nebraska plant will not be near the size of the Tyson plant, so the issues experienced in Lexington are not comparable.

DeHaan also maintains the cultural and social concerns residents have about the workers associated with a meatpacking plant will not be the same as with the bigger plant. DeHaan also claims there will be no odors associated with this plant, compared to the one in central Nebraska, which does have a distinct smell.

Public meetings where DeHaan will answer citizen questions are scheduled at the Harms Center at 6:30 this coming Wednesday and Thursday evening.
