Estimated 400 meals served at Christmas Community dinner
An estimated 400 meals were served at the Christmas dinner based out of Grace Chapel Church Tuesday. Event Coordinator Larry Massie says approximately 150 meals were served at the church and the same number were delivered to those home bound. Many of the 130 volunteers who helped out also enjoyed the wonderful roast turkey and baked ham dinner.
Massie said it was truly a great day, especially for those served at the church, many of who were along fro the day after family had moved from the area. Massie said many of them said it was nice to have a place to go for a good meal and visit with other people for a while during Christmas.
Massie said the church ministry is planning on making the dinner and annual event and he expects they will serve even more people once they get the word out a little earlier and it becomes an annual tradition. Massie praised the volunteers, some of them coming from as far away as the Bridgeport and Broadwater area.
