WNCC baseball falls to GateWay 11-0
MESA, Arizona -- The Western Nebraska Community College baseball team dropped their fourth game on the Spring Break trip to Arizona, falling to GateWay Community College 11-0 Thursday afternoon in Mesa, Ariz.
The Cougars stayed with GateWay for most of the game until allowing seven, seventh-inning runs to fall.
WNCC managed just six hits in the contest, all singles. Gabriel DeLa Rosa led the team with a 2-for-3 game. Andy Padron, Joe Moran, Mason Cratty, and Taylor Ericson all had singles in the contest.
Cody Giffard suffered the loss on the mound, going five innings in allowing five hits, four runs and two strikeouts. Kyle Shoutta also saw time on the rubber, going 1 1/3 innings in scattering six hits, seven runs and striking out one.
WNCC (1-13-1) will now face Cochise College on Friday before wrapping up the Spring Break trip on Saturday against Yavapai College.
