Westmoor tree planting event planned
The City of Scottsbluff has been awarded a $55,000 grant to demonstrate waterwise landscaping and promote tree planting. Annie Folck, the City's Stormwater Program Specialist and Panhandle Coop Marketing Director Susan Wiedeman both addressed the Council Monday night. Folck told the Council that two of the main objectives of this grant are to increase street tree planting and to provide education about proper tree planting and care.
The City will be partnering with Westmoor Elementary and Panhandle Coop to hold a tree planting workshop at Westmoor Elementary on April 20th to demonstrate proper tree planting methods. Attendees of the workshop who live in Scottsbluff will have an opportunity to purchase a tree at a very low cost, as long as they agree to plant it within 15 feet of the curb to maximize public benefit.
Folck said they will also be distributing any trees that are signed up for at the City of Scottsbluff Offices. That event will be held at Westmoor Elementary on April 20th at 8:00 a.m.
