Gering man arrested for burglary, Bluffs Police make stolen vehicle arrest

A Gering man has been arrested for burglary after he was found inside a building at the North Platte Valley Museum property in Gering Monday evening. Gering Police arrested 23 year old Josh Fowlkes inside the Museum storage building after responding to a burglary alarm.

The court document says Police observed an open storage building door and footprints in the snow leading to the building, and found Fowlkes hiding inside. A BB gun, a black folding knife and handcuffs were taken from the suspect, who was arrested for criminal trespassing and carrying a concealed weapon in addition to burglary.

A Scottsbluff man who told Police he could take a reported stolen car because he showed the owners how to "cook" methamphetamine has been arrested for auto theft. Juan Carrera is accused of taking the car Tuesday evening, which a court document says the owners were wanting to sell and left running in an area near Wal-Mart while they went to the store.

The court document says Scottsbluff Police observed the 2002 white Lincoln shortly after the stolen vehicle report, and followed it while the car was driven erratically, at one time almost hitting a patrol car while passing it. The car was eventually stopped in a fueling station parking lot and Carrera was arrested.

He was taken into custody for possession of stolen property and drunk driving in addition to theft.
