Russell looking to achieve goals at CSC Library

Longtime Scottsbluff library director Bev Russell is hoping to achieve several goals before ending her contract in June as the interim director of the Chadron State College library. Russell, who retired at the end of 2011, filled the vacancy created by the death last August of Milton Wolf.

Russell has three goals at CSC: make the learning commons concept a reality both in the building and online, see the library through an assessment by the Association of College and Research Libraries that will be used to create a strategic plan for the library, and make the library more user-friendly for students.

Russell says she wants to have a new IT help desk by spring, a move of the curriculum library into the library's computer lab, and relocate the faculty Teaching and Learning Center to the library. She is also looking forward to the opening of a new coffee shop in the library area before she leaves.

When she is fully retired, Russell plans to continue her work as pastor of the Melbeta United Methodist Church and write a book that will feature Panhandle buildings of yesteryear now standing in various states of disrepair.
