Fallen corrections officer honored
Hundreds of officers from law enforcement agencies across the United States joined local law enforcement and corrections officers, family and friends Saturday in honoring a Scotts Bluff County corrections officer who was killed in an assault last week.
24 year old Amanda Baker died last Sunday as a result of a Valentine's Day assault at the Scotts Bluff County Detention Center.
Members of the public lined the route as Baker's body was escorted by Patriot Guard Riders from Dugan-Kramer Funeral Home to Monument Bible Church, where funeral services were held.
Patriot Guard Ride Captain Steve Thomlison of Scottsbluff says the purpose of the ride was to show honor and respect for the correction officer and her family.
Members of the public brought American flags and stood along 42nd Street while the Guard and the funeral procession passed by.
Volunteers were also standing in a flag line at the church where they had about 50 large flags near the entrance. The flag line was displayed from 1:45 to 3 p.m.
