Chadron women fall

CHADRON - Three Black Hills State players reached double figures combining more than half of their team's points to seal a 73-53 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference victory over Chadron State Saturday.

Logan Cowan led the Jackets with 18 points, Shanna Halalilo sank 15 and Lindsey Fearing added 12. For the game, Black Hills State shot 43 percent (26-60) from the field and 76 percent (16-21) from the charity stripe.

In the first half, the Eagles competed well and never trailed by more than seven points. The Jackets led 31-24 going into the second half after Fearing nailed a 3-pointer from way behind the arc.

Black Hills opened the second half with hot shooting and played excellent defense. For the game, the Jackets forced 19 turnovers. The Eagles struggled to close the gap as the Jackets led by as many as 26 in the second half.

Kattie Ranta scored 23 points and added seven rebounds in her career finale. Kate Simonton dropped eight points and Kayli Rageth added seven points and eight boards.

Greer Babbe blocked two shots and chipped in five rebounds.
